The Nokia brand name is set to disappear from new mobile devices, it has been revealed.

Microsoft bought Nokia’s mobile devices business less than a year ago – and did have a 10-year agreement to use the name on mobile devices.

But Nokia will now be ditched from new products with new Nokia Lumia smartphones being known as Microsoft Lumia, reports the BBC.

Nokia was once synonymous with mobile phones and had a huge market share, but that dominance faded as players like Samsung and Apple came to the fore.

But the name will live on with Nokia’s non-mobile division – which Microsoft does not own – continuing to use the famous name.
