Battery Care
Here are just a few ways of looking after your batteries, which can help them last longer and keep you safe whilst using them.
Dos
• Read the instructions on your device before installing batteries.
• Use the correct size and type of battery specified by the manufacturer of your device. Insert batteries into your device properly, with the (+) and (-) terminals aligned correctly.
• Remove all used batteries from the device at the same time, and then replace them with new batteries of the same size and type.
• Store batteries in a dry place at normal room temperature.
• Remove batteries from the electrical device if the device is not going to be used for a long time.
• Keep battery contact surfaces and battery compartment contacts clean by rubbing them with a clean pencil eraser or a rough cloth each time you replace batteries.
• Keep batteries away from children. If swallowed, contact a physician at once.
Don'ts
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire, as they could explode.
• Do not attempt to recharge a battery unless the battery is marked "rechargeable".
• Do not mix old and new batteries, or mix different types of batteries. This can cause rupture or leakage, resulting in personal injury or property damage.
• Do not carry loose batteries in a pocket or purse with metal objects like coins, paper clips and hair pins, etc. This will short circuit the battery, generating high heat.
