The new battery can be charged up to 70 per cent within 2 minutes and has a lifespan of more than 20 years – more than 10 times longer compared to existing lithium ion batteries.

Scientists at Nanyang Technology University (NTU) in Singapore have developed the batteries and say they could have a revolutionary impact from mobile phones to tablets and especially electric cars.

Electric car owners could save huge amounts on battery replacement costs and recharge their vehicles within minutes, according to the university.

With the new technology, the traditional graphite material used for the anode in lithium ion batteries is replaced with a new gel material made from titanium dioxide.

This is an abundant, cheap and safe material found in soil – and is also used as a food additive or in sunscreen lotions.

But while we wait for the new batteries to come to market, which is expected to be in the next 2 years, there are plenty of rechargeable batteries available now at 7dayshop.com for you to take a look at.
