Silicon Valley based CleanBayArea is looking for the woman who dropped off the rare Apple 1 computer, produced in the 1970s, among a couple of boxes of e-waste about a month ago.

She told them she had decided clear up her garage after her husband had passed away.

The woman did not leave any contact information, and a couple of weeks later a recycling manager found the computer – one of only 200 original Apple 1s made – under cables and old keyboards.

On the company’s blog, it reveals the Apple 1 was sold to a private collector for around $200,000 (£130,984.35) and the company’s policy is to share half of the money.
