In-vehicle cameras are increasingly popular with motorists who recognise the benefit of recording potentially vital footage for example in the event of a collision for insurance claims, etc.
It offers super WQHD (1440P) quality thanks to a super wide 170° lens and a high performance Ambarella A12 chipset.
It's compact and stylish, and packed with useful features. There's an impressive 2.7 inch LCD display that can also be used for playback. Select video, camera and playback and options to fine tune onboard options using the menu and mode buttons.
With seamless cycle recording, you can select how long you want to record for up to 6 minutes at a time, before it starts recording a new video.
Features include motion detection, G sensor - which allows you to manually or automatically lock files - along with a time stamp option as well as electric automatic start and automatic recording function.
You can easily adjust settings including resolution, light (EV) settings, meter mode, data stamp, driver licence plate information, whether you automatically want the camera to turn on and start recording immediately when you turn your ignition on (depending on your vehicle) and how long you want it to continue recording after power is disconnected.
This quality camera uses H.264 image compression technology, has an HDMI function and USB 2.0, plus the recessed camera lens makes it less likely to scratch.
When it comes to using this camera in the vehicle, you can either use the supplied fully adjustable suction mount or sticky tape mount to place the camera where you want. These mounts can twist and swivel according to your requirements.
Just slide the mount into the fitting at the top of the camera and use the tab to secure into place or release. The mounts also feature a USB port for powering the camera for added convenience.
To switch between the two mounts unscrew the pin using the gnarled adjustment knob and swap the mounts over - there's a small nut that sits inside the adjustment knob. You can tighten for a secure fit.
You will need to connect the camera to the car charger when using it because as with many in-vehicle cameras, it only has a small battery for safety reasons. Depending on your vehicle and settings, the camera can automatically start recording when you turn on the ignition.
Record footage by inserting a micro SD memory card up to 512GB (not included - see product links) with a speed rating above class 6 into the slot on the side of the camera. You can also format the card. The cameras records in MP4 format. With a 32GB card, for example, you could get up to 4 hours of footage at 1080p/30fps.
It comes with a super-handy car charger with a 3.5m cable, which means you can place the camera virtually anywhere in a vehicle while safely routing the power supply. You could place it on your dashboard, on your screen, in the car - for example in a taxi to record passengers - or even out the back of your vehicle.
There's also a 75cm micro USB to USB cable for charging and connecting to a computer.
